It seems the more lies there are, the more they are believed. I do not understand.

We seem to have lost the feeling of being a united nation. I plan to send a postcard each day to our new President sharing what drives me through my days, what I want for this country, and what I want our nation to stand for. You are free to comment. I hope you will comment with generosity and civility. Please respect the intent of this effort. Thank you, Dianne

Bragging doesn't make it so....
Just because our president claims that his air and water are cleaner than ever, doesn't make it so. We need leadership that will work for clean air and water for the entire planet.

This is not going to end well!
The Citizens United Supreme Court Decision has turned the tables on the citizens of the United States. Allowing no limits on campaign donations by the wealthy and corporations has stolen the power of American Citizens and given unlimited power to the wealthy. The result has been a division in our country that has driven civility out of our government and our communities. This is not going to end well.

A dangerous rabbit hole...
The effect of our President's behavior appears to be increasing the violence in our country. Pipe bombs sent to Democrats by an avid Trump supporter and a shooting at a Jewish Synagogue by a racist seem to have been perpetrated by white men who are fired up by the rude behavior of our President. We are heading down a dangerous rabbit hole if name calling, blame, and ridicule become the norm in the United States.

If not for all....
What higher aspiration should we have than liberty and justice for all? Yet, we have failed in so many ways. If not for all, then we fail everyone.

Why can't we just get along...
I know it is a simplistic question, but... why can't we all just get along? In the 1970's movie Little Big Man, there was a member of the Cheyenne Tribe who did everything backwards. He was loved and revered for who he was, not what was expected of him. I know, just a movie! But that is the world I want to live in.

Innocent until proven guilty!
“Innocent until proven guilty” should not depend on race or income, but in America that is the reality.

The Bronx Freedom Fund!
The Bronx Freedom Fund is amazing! With a single gift of $100,000, hundreds of people have been able to walk away with minimal interference in their jobs and lives. That is amazing in the country that has one of the highest incarceration rates in the world. With luck, we might even be able to shut down for-profit prisons all together.

Seems like a simple fix...
Paying bail to keep people out of jail seems like a simple fix for a huge problem in our criminal justice system.

Recycled money...
Paying the bail seems like an expensive deal. However, for most minor charges, bail is fairly small and is refunded if you show up for your court hearing. Think of it as recycled money.

This was an amazing interview on NPR. What a big difference can be made in people's lives. There are four more postcards on this topic to follow.

Blame the Victim!
It makes sense that anyone afraid that women are going to take charge of their bodies would sit around tables in a dark room coming up with one liners like this one. Blame the Victim should be their platform!

Stop the blame!
I am sick of the blame laid on President Obama. The Affordable Care Act was what was left after Republicans made sure they and their cronies kept their profits from our our health care. Stop the blame!

Again I ask, does your religious affiliation condone or decry environmental degradation?
This is a political cartoon that echos the sentiment of yesterday's postcard. Again I ask, does your religious affiliation condone or decry environmental degradation?

Does your religious affiliation condon or decry environmental degradation?
We all have to ask ourselves if our President and his big wallet donors are acting in ways their religious communities support. And, if those religious communities support continued degradation of our planet, we have to ask if those communities are really acting on behalf of the children of God.

We the people....
I am actually asking that our president follow our Constitution, our laws, and what the people want from their government. Only listening to deep pocket donors who want to keep raking in the dough, is not good for America or its people.

Greed fuels climate hypocrisy...
Another letter from the White House! This time your administration is justifying the continued support of the fossil fuel industries, totally ignoring the threat to the very people you say you are working for. The greed is fueling this hypocrisy and people all around the globe are suffering the consequences.

We are the problem, we must be the solution...
Climate justice may be our most important work in the coming years. The majority of climate damage has been caused by the northern hemisphere, but most of the climate damage has been evidenced in the southern hemisphere. It makes sense we must be responsible for most of the cost of climate recovery. The longer we ignore the problem, the more we will have to pay.

High standards of behavior...
When taking a high office, Supreme Court Justice, Speaker of the House, President of the United States, voters should look for high standards of behavior as they pick their candidates. Those high standards should count more than mud slinging temper tantrums.

"Good for the working people", I don't think so...
What is it we, (ourselves, our nation, or our species), stand for? It appears that our government is leading us toward greater profits for a few, with little care for the consequences on people or on the environment, but they pass it off as "good for the working people". I don't think so!

Good grief! This was published in 2001! And, today Trump's Environmental Protection Agency is proposing changes in regulations that can increase our exposure to radiation and lead. Apparently, they say, small amounts are good for us. It feels like we are living in a science fiction movie.

Partisan politics as their worst...
It is a done deal and both sides behaved poorly. However, whining and crying about partisan politics is the worst kind of partisan politics. Brett Kavanaugh chose to join the political fray, choosing partisan politics over acting like a clear headed justice. Where was he when President Obama's rights as a President were stolen?

Being a part of a global governing body, The United Nations, would bolster America's greatness far more than becoming an isolationist country that says it only cares for American interests, or put another way, only making the wealthy wealthier.

We must hold high standards in our courts...
What? Testifying about abuse is not a political tool. Yes, it came at a poor time in Brett Kavanaugh's career. He is not alone. It is happening across our country. A Supreme Court Justice should not be an abuser, a drunk, a whiner, and a blamer of Democrats. His testimony debases the very job he seeks. We must hold high standards in our courts.
