#1 - human rights for all...

How can we, the United States of America, claim to stand for simple human rights for all when we lob tear gas at families, lock up children, and have the highest incarceration rate of any modernized country on the planet? This breaks my heart. Please, have human rights at the top of your priority list!

Choose, justice or profits...

All of our decisions should hinge on compassion and justice, not on making a huge profit for the arms industry. Worse, you cut their taxes so they contribute less to the collective pot. How will that ever 'make America great'?

Frugal and wise...

It seems simple. In order for me to live on my retirement income I must be frugal and wise in how I spend my money. If we all, including our government, were frugal and wise, we could change the world.

...as they turn to us for refuge...

This plaque is a somber reminder of what members of the First Nations lost in the claiming of the land by the Pigrims and their offspring. Sort of like what our current administration accuses refugees at our border of doing as they turn to us for refuge.

No one said this would be easy...

No one said this would be easy. We all, all eight billion of us, have to pitch in and do what is right. That means giving up on some things that we take for granted.

Why? ....$$$$!

Quality, affordable health care is something most Americans can agree on. Why does our government continue supporting the for-profit model that makes our commercial health care expensive and non-inclusive? Answer? $$$

We must act, ....soon!

Every day there are new storms, fires, refugees needing sanctuary, and reports of environmental degradation. And, what do we do? Nothing but spend more, burn more fossil fuels, and ignore the warning signs. We must act, ....soon!

A warm Thanksgiving to you...

Living in gratitude gives us a chance to see our lives through new eyes, humble eyes. We have so much to be thankful for and such an abundance that we can share. A warm Thanksgiving to you.

Everyone but the profiteers would benefit..

I cannot imagine why anyone would be opposed to our tax dollars being spend on affordable, comprehensive, inclusive health care for all Americans. Oh right, there are those who want to make a profit off our ailments. That is why Medicare is so wonderful. Let's work for Medicare for all. Everyone but the profiteers would benefit.

Why not universal health care? ...

Here are the countries that have universal healthcare for their citizens: Austria, Belarus, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Moldova, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom. Why not Americans? Simple answer: Greed

"So sad..."

This sculpture will one day become a memorial to those who would do nothing to save our planet and all of its magnificent inhabitants. To quote our president, "So sad!"

What Americans want from our government....

All my postcards and he still does not understand what I want. It is easy, the U.S. Constitution ensures "liberty and justice for all". Nowhere does it say "wealth for a few". Read my postcards. I write about what Americans want from our government.

We are fomenting hatred...

It almost feels like war rhetoric! All the threats, name calling, growing violence, and degradation of anyone who is different. This is the world my grandchildren will inherit. We should be spreading compassion, justice, and aid. Instead, we are fomenting hatred.

I am not a supporter...

I cannot imagine Mr. Trump even caring about having my support. I am low income. I am a woman. I consider myself an American citizen and a citizen of the world. I help those who need help. Everyday, I am doing my best to be a good steward of our planet. And..., I am not a supporter of Donald Trump.

Our two most deadly sins...

Climate denial and renewed racism are the two most deadly sins of this epoch we are living in. Worse, if we chose to, both could be wiped out by joining together across the globe to do what is right and necessary. Shame on us.

Think of what we have done!

OMG! Wildlife populations have declined 60% over the last 40 years. That is nearly the time my children have been alive. On average, 60% of each species has disappeared. Just think about what we have done!

It should be easy...

What do we care about most? Truly, I do not think it is the color of people's skin or where they come from. We all want: healthcare for all, education for our children, enough money to live and feed our families, a safety net when we are old, and to feel safe on our streets. It should be easy.

Pity the Nation - 1933

Yesterday's "Pity the Nation" was clearly written for today. Khalil Gibran's "Pity the Nation" was written 85 years ago and is just as timely.

Compassion must be universal...

The compassion we send to victims and their families should have no boundaries. The Palestinian people are victims as much as the Jews have been. Compassion for these but not for those is not compassion.

Bragging about being "nice" does not make one "nice". To receive that compliment one must be compassionate, caring, helpful, courteous, soothing, generous, kind, just, and, at the very least, humble.
