There are threats that benefit the threatened and threats that benefit the person doing the threatening. Children need to know that a benevolent parent is in charge. But, if that parent is bullying for self benefit it is clear to the child and all observers that the parent is self-centered, which actually benefits no one.

We seem to have lost the feeling of being a united nation. I plan to send a postcard each day to our new President sharing what drives me through my days, what I want for this country, and what I want our nation to stand for. You are free to comment. I hope you will comment with generosity and civility. Please respect the intent of this effort. Thank you, Dianne

They will succeed!
I am 70 years old and I am in awe when I see young women and men working for the good of all people. They are unselfish with their time and generous with their labor. Throughout time, these are the people who do the best work for the people. They inspire me to action knowing that together we can succeed!

Who do you admire?
Who we admire tells us much about who we are. Young people are making commitments to justice, equality, the environment, and many other causes to make the world a better place for all of us. They deserve our admiration and our support.

The foundation of our country...
All any of us are asking is that our government is run for the benefit of every one of us, not just the wealthy class that thinks they are better than the rest of us. "Of the people, by the people, and for the people" is not just something that can be glossed over. It is the foundation of our country.

It's so easy, a blessed Holiday Season to all!
I write this for everyone of us who works to make this country stand for its ideals. We are a country "of the people, for the people, and by the people". What damages one, damages all without regard to wealth, age, gender, ethnicity, religion, or health. It really seems so easy. A blessed Holiday Season to all, however you choose to celebrate.

Come on, guys. Figure this out!
I have always stood on my own two feet and have understood that my words and deeds have consequences. Republicans, and Democrats as well, need to stand down and figure out what their job is. Is being a Congress Person a pay-to-play way of making money? 0r, (I can't believe I have to ask this question) are they elected to work for and with the American people? I hope enough of them figure this out before we end up in a heap of ashes!

Who would vote for this man?
Maybe not in exact words, but Roy Moore was suggesting that white, American families were at their best when those white, American families could have slaves! Really!!! This man came very close to winning a seat in our Congress! Who would vote for him?

Something is wrong with this picture...
What is the purpose of our government? Is it to make money for the wealthy and shield them from scrutiny? Or, is the purpose of our government to do what is in the best interests of the people? When 1% of the people have 99% of the wealth and they take away health coverage for children, something is terribly out of whack.

What is Trump hiding?
Red herring or smoke screen or whatever you call it, it does nothing more than focus attention on what our President is trying to hide. Between threatening Hillary Clinton and blaming Barak Obama for everything under the sun, one has to wonder what he doesn't want us to know.

I protest!!
Jerusalem is central to many religions of the world. To recognize it as the capital of Israel discounts all that has been stolen from the Palestinians to create a homeland for the Jewish people. It is long over due for us to support the Palestinians as well. Instead you have shown that leaving them in a collective prison at the mercy of the Jews, is just fine with America. I protest!!

The intrinsic purpose of a gun is to kill. The intrinsic purpose of a paint ball gun is to splatter paint. The intrinsic purpose of a water gun is to get someone wet. The intrinsic purpose of a glue gun is to adhere things together. The intrinsic purpose of a loaded gun is to kill.

Americans want net neutrality...
A representative government is what we have. We elect people to represent us and do not re-elect them if they do not. Three people took away the neutrality of our internet. We need to elect people who will follow the wishes of the American people.

A lawsuit is in order!
This is a land grab, pure and simple. It is an abuse of power and wealth against the people of the United States and against the Earth itself. A lawsuit is in order!

A land grab is just that, a land grab...
Interesting how language can be manipulated to get what you want and to convince those who will be impacted that it is good for them. There is no way that this land grab can be construed to be "for the people".

Justice is not served by doing nothing...
Standing in the Civil Rights Museum stating platitudes means nothing. Action is what is needed. The New Jim Crow, incarceration in general and of Blacks specifically, is out of control. Justice is not served by trying to sound understanding and doing nothing to change the injustice.

We cannot be so thrilled with the outcome of this election that we lose our focus and energy to keep the ball rolling. This is our work as the people of the United States of America. We must stay focused and energized.

Thanks to men who stand for and by women!
I don't know about anyone else, but I am thrilled at the number of men of power who have fallen. Women's voices are rising and the warning is that we will no longer be kept quiet about disrespect, groping, and put-downs. Thank you to all the men who stand by women who risk everything to tell their stories. The world is a better place when perpetrators are exposed.

Keep your paws to yourself!
I am so proud of all women who are coming forward with their stories of abuse and harassment. The length of time between the event and calling out the injustice tells us how painful it is. The men who say, "I don't remember," shows how trivial they think their behavior is. If you can't keep your paws to yourself, you are the one with the problem.

Warning: No one is too big to fall...
Don't you think someone would have told these men to keep their paws to themselves and their parts in their pants when they were kids? They think it is their right and are surprised when they get in trouble for it.

This postcard speaks for itself. But, I cannot resist saying that Senator Chuck Grassley's comment suggests he is unqualified to be representing the people of Iowa. Iowa, is this how you want to be represented?

Benefit wealthy pockets...
The only people who are truly happy about rolling back protections are people who only want to exploit the land. There is no benefit to our damaged planet in allowing drilling, mining, and clear cutting. The only benefit is padding the pockets of the wealthy.

Assumptions make us all part of the problem...
Does this come as a surprise? Yesterday, I purposefully did not identify this man's skin color. We all make assumptions about those in prison. I was sure he had done something to get incarcerated. And, I bet you thought he was black. We are all part of this problem. We must open our minds. Or, justice will never be served.

We are all at risk...
This is a travesty beyond reckoning. Putting someone in jail because of incompetent or uncaring council. How can our government stand by and allow this to happen? Each and every citizen in our country is at risk of being caught in this unethical system.

Just take a moment to understand...
Jane Goodall's words apply to more than just the animals on our planet. They should guide us through our dealings with our families, friends, neighbors, and all manner of strangers. Just imagine the world we could create if we all just took a moment to understand.

We must share our privilege with everyone...
In the U.S., we are so privileged and, for the most part, we don't even recognize our privilege. Just think, we flush our toilets with purified water. We have no end of healthy food. Most of us have a home that is warm. What more could we want? We can sell our privilege to the highest bidder, and only discover after that the highest bidder has no concern for us. We must remain on guard and share our privilege with everyone. We must work for compassion and justice for all.

Partner with me....
At five years old, my life was saved by a black man. However, my mother was so embarrassed to have a "negro" involved in our family drama that she brushed him off. I knew, at five years old, that my mother was wrong. I have never stopped knowing, for sure, that every person is the same and is due the same compassion, respect, and justice as I receive. I have absolutely no doubt that racism is wrong in any context, for any reason.

We can change the world with our dollars...
We do have the power. The dollars we spend are a statement to our government of what we want. If we are unsatisfied with Washington, we need to send a message, an even bigger message than a postcard and it won't take guns. We need to hit them in their pocketbooks. Where we spend our money, or don't spend it sends a big message about what we will stand for. Shop at Amazon, Amazon thinks everything is just fine. Don't give your money to Amazon or any other corporate entity, they will work on our behalf. So, instead of giving them our money, let's keep it in our local businesses or donate it to how we want our world to look.

Divide and Conquer...
The created distraction was designed to foment distrust and alienation between black slaves and white workers making small wages. This insured that the two groups would not unite to call for an end to unjust treatment they were both experiencing. It is called "Divide and Conquer". It worked then and it is still working today.

I would never have believed this if I were not experiencing an administration that is working “to protect the minority of the opulent against the majority”. Really? Are we going to stand by and let this happen? ...poverty, ...race wars, ...and possibly armed rebellion? Sorry if I sound Hysterical.
